Friday Linkathon: Useful Edition

Before I launch into Friday, I want to give a special shout out to Tamar Halpern. Her documentary about Llyn Foulkes titled “One Man Band” will be premiering at the LA Film Festival, downtown at Regal Theaters at LA Live. If you’re into the Los Angeles art scene, and the art scene in general, it’s a must see. This is an artist who didn’t cow-tow to the art world and put his life into his work.

Well, summer is here and in Los Angeles that means traffic is bananas for a variety of reasons. Maybe someone can enlighten me but it seems like the city picks summertime as THE time to do construction, which doesn’t make sense to me. It’s hot as Hades outside so why do it during the summer? So why is it that I can’t pick art for my home? There are so many DIY art projects out there on how to quickly slap together something abstract for your walls. Sometimes it’s literally framing the fabric you used for your throw pillows. While I think it looks fine in images on blogs and in magazines, I would never do this for my own home. Ever.

The result of this indecisiveness has lead to this breakdown of the current art in our home:

Friday Linkathon

I’ll be perfectly honest: there is a small part of me that started this blog so I could post awesome stuff like this.wiener_wipersOK, now that we got that out of the way…

I’d like to make Friday Linkathon a new L.A. Lady tradition. In it, I’ll have something to wear, something to eat and something to see. And a gif like the one posted above.

Stanley Kubrick exhibit at the LACMA

I was completely unaware of the super bowl this year. The day of the super bowl is one of the best days to take advantage of Los Angeles. Everyone will be inside eating nachos watching TV, while I am out taking advantage of empty streets, no lines at my favorite restaurants and… no people.
